During my boat trips I always find myself reflecting on the sea and its nature. In its abstraction, it reminds me of consciousness. Every wave I generate with the boat sends out ripples, extending infinitely and affecting everything. I see the entire sea as a web, wholly interconnected.
There is nothing under my control in the sea; the whole surface shifts under me, moving me with it. When it gets stirred up and intense, it places me in a position of complete dependance on God to reach my destination.
On this very surface and for all whom the sea touches, I sense a subtle but tacit consensus and acknowledgment of our interconnectedness and reliance on the Creator and on one another, expressed as a simple gesture of a wave as our boats cross each other.
