If I had the chance, I’d ask the world to dance.
Saturday night: twenty sweaty bodies giving their best on the dance floor. It is without a doubt my favourite night of the week.
Knowing that we are all en route to the same destination, I leave my worries at the door, hand over the keys and tell the valet to take a spin.
A great force takes over and moves my body to the rhythm of the night. When thoughts come in, I look around the room and enjoy my friends dancing, all in their own particular ways. A buoyant smile lights my face, and that is all I need to lose myself to dance once more. With my eyes locked on the light, I let the body do what it does and fall into Absolute Surrender.
“If I had the chance, I’d ask the world to dance*” resounds throughout the room. Inside, I scream “yes, that’s it!” and am flooded with the certainty that I do, in fact, have the chance to ask the world to dance. In that instant the space explodes, and I have no doubt that we are reaching far beyond the session room walls.
I am reminded of when I was here with my best friend once. She came to visit Source Temple and joined the Sacred Dance Party. Outwardly, we just seem to be a lively group of people dancing to rock and roll on a Saturday night. The instant you launch yourself into the experience, however, the body infills with energy and an internal process of transformation begins. I am certain that she and I never left that party and are still dancing, in a place beyond time and space.
This is my invitation for you to join us on the dance floor and fall into the vortex of light. Try it on for size: put on your favourite music or listen to the many Dance Party Playlists we have shared online and shake it out.
“If you are simply bodily present, you do not have a shape. In order to see yourself as a shape, you have to abstract yourself from your own Intrinsic Position, because you have to see yourself reflected from outside. In other words, you have to look in a mirror—either a literal mirror or (otherwise) the mirror of perceptual processes and social associations that give you a sense of outline, a sense of space and time, and so forth.”

*The song I made reference to is Billy Idol’s Dancing With Myself. At this specific Dance Party it was followed by Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters, a song empowered by the 1000 people who passionately joined to play it together. If you haven’t seen the video yet, you’re in for a treat.
“I’m looking to the sky to save me.
Looking for a sign of life.
Looking for something to help me burn out bright.
I’m looking for complication.
Looking, ‘cause I’m tired of lying.
Make my way back home when I learn to fly high.”
