When the human mind understands that every thought in time binds one to a temporal cycle that will inevitably culminate in death, it decides to allow itself to be lifted up and carried forward to higher frequencies of association and greater realms of communication. Thinking and action are gradually but surely surrendered to a higher mind, a unified awareness that is self-organizing and self-correcting in nature. And when the Heart is wholly involved, one becomes a Real God Devotee, whose life is dedicated to manifesting the Truth that there is only Consciousness Itself.
Such a life is that of renunciation. One renounces the tendency to acquiesce to patterns of limitation, suffering, and conflict based on identification with the body, and instead, turns attention to identification with Spirit. This process is a fiery one, charged with emotional and psycho-physical conversion, and requires a safe place to unfold. That safe place is a Sanctuary, a physical location in time “yet yielding only to eternity.”
Source Temple is such a Sanctuary, a slice of the Sacred Domain established in time as an answer to the prayers of those gathered to accept Enlightenment as their birthright.
Beauty is the inherent characteristic of the Sacred manifesting in this world, hence “Tat Sundaram!” (“All of this is Sacred, All of this is Beautiful!”). Sensing beauty, the human heart becomes Divinely Distracted. While the wheel of Samsara is constantly bringing attention to the concerns of survival, the Sacred Domain, the Beautiful Itself, elevates the mind to the feeling-awareness of an intimate relationship with the Source of all.
From the beginning of our gathering, we created Living Temples, a tribute to the beauty of Real God. Built with our own hands and out of humble materials, these spaces were natural expressions of our decision to join, live together, and demonstrate the power of a True Sangha. Our canvas became an opus of whimsical shapes, uneven patterns, charmingly colorful paints, and enchanting gardens.
As one who does not build or paint, I speak as a temple dweller, blessed for years with the gift of Sanctuary. I have lived in the most humbly divine structures that have given my body, my eyes, my hands, and all my senses the refuge that only Beauty can provide to the human heart.
Source Temple Sacred Architecture provides the awakening consciousness the opportunity to rely, simply and entirely, on the exquisiteness of the surroundings. By allowing the eyes to guide the body and mind into a process of contemplation, silence, and deepening, the Beautiful invites the Spirit to rise to the level in which It finds Itself at Home.
This is the gift of true Sanctuary, the profound offering of Source Temple Sacred Architecture: Waking up in place with no differences.
“Reality Itself, is Truth Itself, is the Beautiful Itself”. Adi Da Samraj
